The EL exam spans 9 domains: General Electrical Knowledge (10% of the exam); Transformers and Equipment (12% of the exam); Service Feeders and Branch Circuits (16% of the exam); Raceways, Boxes, and Panelboards (10% of the exam); Conductors and Cables (12% of the exam); Control Devices (8% of the exam); Motors and Generators (12% of the exam); Utilization Equipment (8% of the exam); Special Occupancies and Equipment (12% of the exam). Every practice question on this site is tagged to one of these domains.

The domains are not weighted equally on the exam. By share of the marks: Service Feeders and Branch Circuits 16%; Transformers and Equipment 12%; Conductors and Cables 12%; Motors and Generators 12%; Special Occupancies and Equipment 12%; General Electrical Knowledge 10%; Raceways, Boxes, and Panelboards 10%; Control Devices 8%; Utilization Equipment 8%.
